About us

JaxSA is a non-profit, social organization for all South Africans and their friends living in North East Florida. The club was orginaly started by Ettiene Coetzer who did some great work getting South Africans together and organizing social events. (thanks Ettie). The club has been growing ever since and in 2007 we launched the Jaxsa.com website.(hope you enjoy site and send us your comments)

In addition we are also the most passionate Springbok supporters ever!!!

The club is non-political and strive to foster friendship and networking amongst its members.

The club will arrange regular social events for members and their friends.

Finance

The financial year covers the period from 1st January to 31 st December.

Membership fees for the forthcoming club year will be established at a meeting TBD.

The committee must approve expenses incurred on behalf of the Club in advance.

Meetings

Members shall be invited by email with details of the agenda.

Nominations for new committee members shall be deposited with the secretary at least one week prior to the meeting.

These suggestions will be considered by the committee and thereafter voted upon at the meeting.

Voting at a meeting will be by simple majority. Members who are unable to attend may authorize another member to vote on their behalf, subject to this proxy being given in writing and handed to the secretary prior to the GM. In the event of a draw, the chair will have the deciding vote.

Organization

The Club shall be administered by a committee, consisting of at least 4 and not more than 9 elected members, including a chair, vice-chair, secretary and treasurer, who shall hold office for a period of two years. Committee members shall be allowed to stand for re-election.

The committee shall elect members to the given positions. In the event of a draw, the chair has the casting vote.

Should a committee member be unable to complete the term of office, a replacement will be elected by the remaining committee.

Duties and Capacities of Committee

The committee is responsible for the plausible functioning of the club.

The committee may create special committees and co-opt additional members if theneed arises.

The chairperson shall preside over club and committee meetings and perform any other function pertaining to his/her responsibilities.

The vice-chair shall assist the chairperson and deputies for the chair during his/her absence. He/she shall succeed the chair in office if circumstances prevent the chair from finishing his/her term.

The vice-chair shall also maintain the club's event book.

The secretary/treasurer shall keep account of the Club's income and expenditures and shall prepare a report of the Club's financial state of affairs that is avaliable to all club members.

The secretary/treasurer shall maintain membership records and distribute an updated list of members' names and addresses annually.

The secretary shall take minutes at committee meetings AM's and distribute copies thereof as promptly as possible.

The committee members are responsible for arranging functions, parties, informative evenings and other regular activities.

Dissolution of the Club

The Club may be dissolved at a meeting where the majority of those present vote in favor of the dissolution. The balance of the Club's funds, after all liabilities have been settled, will be donated to a charity, which will be selected during the same meeting.
